Dew is a moon bear rescued by Animals Asia from a bile-bear farm in Vietnam. She now lives safely at their sanctuary, free from cruelty, with space to climb, forage, rest in the sunshine, and enjoy the peaceful life she deserves.
Buddies for Paws proudly supports Dew’s ongoing care and sanctuary life through Animals Asia.

Dew became part of the Buddies for Paws guardian family in 2025. She has lived at the Vietnam Bear Sanctuary since she was rescued in 2017, cared for by expert keepers and veterinarians who ensure she has everything she needs to recover and thrive.

When Dew first arrived at the sanctuary, she was underweight, scared, and unsure of her surroundings. With time and care, she has learned to relax, enjoy the grass beneath her paws, and explore her new home with confidence. Today, she is calm, curious, and finally able to live like a bear again.

Sanctuary life allows Dew to behave naturally, climbing, foraging, bathing and choosing her favourite sunny spots for napping. She loves stretching out in the warmth after breakfast.

Dew has formed a close bond with another rescued bear named Soul. They forage together, explore new enrichment, and can often be found napping together in their favourite spot.

Moon bears, also known as Asiatic Black Bears, are named for the crescent-shaped patch of pale fur on their chest. Each marking is unique, like a fingerprint, which helps conservationists identify individual bears in sanctuaries and in the wild.

Winter is the perfect season for moon bears to rest and recharge. While they don't hibernate, they naturally slow down, choosing warm areas and quiet corners for long, cosy naps. A bit like us humans after too much festive fun!
